Día de los Muertos in Breckenridge October 16–17, 2026

🌼 Día de los Muertos in Breckenridge

Día de los Muertos returns to Breckenridge on October 16–17 for two days of art, music, dance, tradition and remembrance throughout downtown and the Breckenridge Arts District.

Presented by BreckCreate, the Día de los Muertos + Latin Festival celebrates Latin American culture and community while honoring loved ones and those who came before us. Throughout the weekend, visitors can experience community ofrendas, art installations, live performances, hands-on activities, food, music and more.

Best of all, much of the celebration takes place right in the heart of Breckenridge.

🕯️ Friday, October 16

The weekend begins Friday evening with a community celebration and Candlelight Vigil.

First, an Azteca promenade makes its way toward Blue River Plaza. Then, the evening continues with an Azteca performance and candlelight vigil honoring traditions of remembrance and the connections between generations.

Meanwhile, visitors can explore community ofrendas and festival installations around downtown.

Because individual events happen at different times and locations, check the official BreckCreate schedule before heading out.

🎨 Saturday, October 17

On Saturday, the celebration expands throughout the Breckenridge Arts District Campus and surrounding downtown locations.

Explore the Latin Festival Market, discover community art and ofrendas, check out lowriders and Catrinas, and experience music and cultural performances throughout the day.

In addition, hands-on activities offer another way to experience the traditions and creativity behind the celebration.

Later, Saturday evening continues with Latin Dance Night at the Riverwalk Center. So, whether you stop by for an afternoon or spend the entire day downtown, there’s plenty happening throughout the festival.

🌼 Día de Los Muertos: Celebrating Culture & Community

At its heart, Día de los Muertos is a celebration of remembrance.

Rather than focusing simply on loss, the tradition honors family, ancestors and the stories that continue across generations. In addition, Breckenridge’s celebration recognizes the traditions, creativity and contributions of Summit County’s Hispanic and Latin communities.

The festival is presented by BreckCreate, with events taking place throughout the Breckenridge Arts District, Blue River Plaza, Riverwalk Center and downtown.

As a result, there’s much more happening throughout the weekend than we could possibly squeeze onto our calendar.
